UMa ACKNOWLEDGEMENT<\/h2>\n

\t\tEvery two years, the Cultural Council of the University of Madeira gives the award “UMa Reconhecimento<\/a>“. This award aims to highlight good practices and strengthen the active participation of all. Under the motto “UMa Acknowledgement: a tribute to the quality and cultural commitment”, this award aims to highlight and disseminate the action and work developed by individuals or organisations, public or private, in different cultural areas.
\nThis award also acknowledges the worth of said individuals and organisations, demonstrating that such actions are numerous and viable, leading to a greater dynamisation of regional culture.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

In 2025, the \u201cUMa Recognition\u201d award was given to Rui Campos Matos in the \u201cindividual\u201d category and to the Casa do Povo da Camacha Choir in the \u201ccollective\u201d category. <\/p>\n

In 2023, the “UMa Reconhecimento” distinction was awarded, in the “individual nature” category, to Irene Luc\u00edlia Mendes de Andrade; and, in the “collective nature” category, to the Madeira Classical Orchestra.<\/p>\n

In 2021, the “UMa Reconhecimento” distinction was awarded, in the “individual nature” category, to Marcelino Paulo Freitas de Castro; and, in the “collective nature” category, to Galeria Porta 33 – Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Quebra Costas Centro de Arte. The ceremony for the award will be announced soon.<\/p>\n

In 2019, the award \u201cUMa Acknowledgement\u201d was awarded, in the \u201cindividual nature\u201d category, to Sculptor Manuela Aranha; and, in the \u201ccollective nature\u201d category, to Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Musical e Cultural Xarabanda. The award ceremony was held on October 16, 2019, in the Auditorium of the Jesuits\u2019 College, in the Rectory Building of the University of Madeira, on the Solemn Opening of the Academic Year 2019\/2020.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The “UMa Recognition” award was given for the first time in 2017 and, in that year; in the “individual nature” category,\u00a0it went to Raimundo Quintal Quintal;\u00a0and,\u00a0in the “collective nature” category,\u00a0to the Associa\u00e7\u00e3o dos Amigos da Arte Inclusiva \u2013 Dan\u00e7ando com a Diferen\u00e7a. The award ceremony was held on April 24, 2018, in the Auditorium of the Jesuits\u2019 College, in the Rectory Building of the University of Madeira. This ceremony included a conference given by Viriato Soromenho-Marques titled “Culture and (re)knowledge”.<\/p>\n
