UMa ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Every two years, the Cultural Council of the University of Madeira gives the award UMa Reconhecimento. This award aims to highlight good practices and strengthen the active participation of all. Under the motto “UMa Acknowledgement: a tribute to the quality and cultural commitment”, this award aims to highlight and disseminate the action and work developed by individuals or organisations, public or private, in different cultural areas. This award also acknowledges the worth of said individuals and organisations, demonstrating that such actions are numerous and viable, leading to a greater dynamisation of regional culture.

In 2023 the “UMa Reconhecimento” distinction was awarded, in the “individual nature” category, to Irene Lucília Mendes de Andrade; and, in the “collective nature” category, to the Madeira Classical Orchestra.

In 2021 the “UMa Reconhecimento” distinction was awarded, in the “individual nature” category, to Marcelino Paulo Freitas de Castro; and, in the “collective nature” category, to Galeria Porta 33 – Associação Quebra Costas Centro de Arte. The ceremony for the award will be announced soon.
